The Central Michigan University Research Corporation (CMURC) Board of Directors has recognized Lýseon Additive Manufacturing as the 2020 CMURC SmartZone Small Business of the Year, honoring founder Chris Williams and his team for their innovative 3D printing solutions.

Chris Williams has taken years of experience in sales and manufacturing in various industries to establish his 3D printing business called Lýseon Additive Manufacturing. The company was created based on the need of an additive manufacturing service organization that provides top-notch service. The systems, processes and industry relationships have quickly proven that they provide just that — world class additive manufacturing with hometown service.

Bob Davies, CMU president and chairperson of the CMURC board of directors, said science, technology, engineering and math are areas where innovation and talent continue to flourish. “Entrepreneurs like Chris embody the passion and drive needed to foster growth in a business, and show us what is possible for the future of our economy,” Davies added.

“Williams stands out as an entrepreneur dedicated to improving Michigan’s economic landscape with innovative technologies,” said President and CEO of CMURC Erin Strang. “He’s taken calculated, smart risks and achieved success.”

With the strategic plans, resiliency, drive and passion to bring high-paying, high-tech jobs to the region, he is a true catalyst in creating an entrepreneurial and innovative culture in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Lýseon has helped bring CMURC one step closer to creating a community in which people invest their lives — a key driver to economic development.

“By joining the CMURC community, I’ve been able to gain new insights and connections with like-minded entrepreneurs and professionals,” said Chris Williams, founder of Lýseon Additive Manufacturing. “It’s an honor to be selected for this prestigious award and to be a part of a growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

Chris Williams joins the impressive group of past recipients of the Entrepreneurs of the Year and SmartZone Small Business of the Year award. He will be presented his award alongside other business leaders at the 2020 Michigan Celebrates Small Business Gala on May 4, 2021.
